![]() Flying High with Halton Chamber at Liverpool John Lennon Airport
Halton Chamber of Commerce was flying high when it took part in a behind-the-scenes tour of Liverpool John Lennon Airport on Tuesday 1st December. 30 Halton businessmen and women joined the Chamber for a special two hour personal tour of the airport, which included an opportunity to go airside and a complimentary buffet. Eric Hudson, Halton Chamber’s executive vice chairman, said: “This was a fantastic opportunity for the business community to find out how Liverpool Airport ticks. It is one of the fastest-growing regional airports in the UK and a major asset to business travellers from the region. “The airport currently operates scheduled services to more than 60 domestic and European destinations, so for companies who want fast, cost-effective connections to associates around the UK and on the continent, it is ideal.” All who attended the event agreed that it had been an enjoyable and worthwhile evening, and feedback received was extremely positive: "I would like to say thank-you for the work undertaken by yourselves to provide the opportunity for myself and my fellow Chamber members to undergo the ‘behind the scenes’ tour of Liverpool Airport. It was an insightful experience and I for one appreciate that it is a rare chance to understand both the work that the staff do at the airport and the revenue that our region can accrue by increasing the routes both in and outbound. As an aside the security check was an eye opener...I am still baffled that someone would feel it was acceptable to carry a machete on board but was surprised that lipstick was categorised as a liquid. In addition I would like to commend Liverpool Friends, as a voluntary organisation that has supported the development of the airport, they made myself as a visitor feel very welcome and provided a comprehensive historic backdrop." Michelle Herron, Essence of Life As places for this free event were in high demand, the Chamber is looking into the possibility of a second trip in the near future.
