A Ticket to Ride

Get on board for a summer of discounted weekend train journeys, thanks to a ground-breaking partnership between Halton Chamber of Commerce and Virgin Trains.

All Chamber members and their employees are being issued with a special card which entitles them and their families to bargain First Class weekend travel on Virgin Trains between 24 July and 5 September.

Nearly 15,000 Privilege Travel Cards have been printed, including 6,000 cards for Halton Council staff, 3,000 for Ineos Chlor workers and 400 for Riverside College.

The card will allow people to book online and reserve Advance one way tickets from Liverpool or Runcorn to London for just £16 adult and £8 child (aged 5-15). This means a family of four can travel to London and back for less than £100. This special offer gives members a massive reduction on the usual cost of a First Class Advance one way ticket on this route, normally between £34 and £45.50.

Tickets must be reserved in advance via a dedicated page on the Virgin Trains website – simply go to virgintrains.co.uk/halton from the 7th July, to find out more.

Halton Chamber manager Paula Cain said: “This is the first time Virgin Trains has linked up with a Chamber to offer this kind of special summer promotion. I hope lots of members and their families will take advantage of the Privilege Travel Card and grab an exciting bargain break in our capital city over the summer holidays.

“I want to pay tribute to Virgin Trains’ chief executive Tony Collins and Halton Chamber’s Eric Hudson who had a vision of working together for the mutual benefit of both organisations. This is a trial scheme for Virgin Trains and if it’s a success, may well be repeated for us, and perhaps other organisations too.”

For more information, contact Chamber membership secretary, Diane McLoughlin, on 01928 516146.
